5G in Plus, Orange, T-Mobile and Play networks - comparison of start offers

All four Polish infrastructure operators have already revealed how they will implement 5G. We summarize what the offer for the start of Plus, Orange, T-Mobile and Play networks looks like.

It is true that PEM standards at the end of last year went up , which was supposed to facilitate the development of 5G in Poland , but unfortunately the auction has already been annulled . Polish operators, however, do not think about giving up the implementation of the 5th generation network - and very well .

All four Polish telecoms decided to use the frequencies previously used for LTE for 5G , but each of them did it in their own way . We decided to summarize the approach of Plus , Orange , T-Mobile and Play .

5g-plus

5G in Plus

Plus was the first infrastructure operator to start with 5G. The company belonging to Zygmunt Solorz-Żak turned out to be such a dark racehorse - she spoke the least about it, and still became a leader. The company announced the launch of its 5th generation network in cooperation with Ericsson in January this year. and kept her word .

Cyfrowy Polsat Group announces that for the start of Plus 5G is available in seven cities at 2600 MHz (TDD) with a bandwidth of 50 MHz. This ensures transfers of up to 600 Mb / s, although to enjoy them you need to equip yourself with the right device .

Of course, to use 5G, you must also be in the right location in cities such as Warsaw, Gdańsk, Katowice, Łódź, Poznań, Szczecin and Wrocław. At the start, according to estimates, the fifth generation of access will have 900,000 people. 100 base stations are supported, but another 600 are to be launched in Warsaw and the surrounding area, which will increase the reach to 3 million people. The current range of Plus can be checked on the map .

For starters, Huawei P40, Huawei P40 Pro and Huawei Mate Xs smartphones are supported, i.e. devices without access to Google services, but in the future "smartphones of several leading manufacturers with Google Play Services" will be added to the offer.

orange 5G

5G in Orange

In the case of Orange, we are still waiting for the commercial launch of the 5th generation network. Although the orange network already in January decided that it could start with 5G on frequencies previously reserved for LTE, but did not see such a need . This, however, changed due to the turmoil associated with the so-called 5G auction .

Already in March Orange packages ready for 5G appeared, but only at the beginning of June the operator officially announced its 5th generation network called the marketing name # hello5G . It will be launched at 2100 MHz in the 10 MHz band and customers will be able to use it as soon as July 1. As many as 1.6 thousand will be supported at the start. base stations, and 6 million people will be within 5G of Orange. We are still waiting for the list of supported devices.

t-mobile 5G

5G in T-Mobile

In the case of T-Mobile, we knew for a long time that 5G will appear in the network offer , but until now we have been waiting for specifics. Fortunately, these have already appeared , and the operator overtook his orange rival. The start date of its 5th generation network is June 9, 2020. By the end of the month, 6 million people are expected to be within range thanks to 1,600 base stations supporting this communication standard.

First of all, 5G in T-Mobile will be available in cities such as Warsaw, Łódź, Kraków, Poznań, Wrocław, Płock, Opole, Częstochowa, Rzeszów, Bielsko-Biała and Kielce as well as in the Upper Silesian Industrial District. The coverage map can be viewed on the operator's website .

Also in this case we are dealing with a network operating at 2100 MHz. Access to it will be available to subscribers of subscription tariffs offered from September 2019 and all business customers who have a Magenta Biznes tariff. To use the 5th generation network from T-Mobile, one must express such willingness e.g. in the T-Mobile application and also have the appropriate device. Unfortunately, at the moment their list is ... quite short, and they were on it:

  • LG V60 smartphone (software version - V10e-EEA-XX);
  • Xiaomi Mi10 5G smartphone (software version - MIUI Global SW: 11.0.11 | 11.0.11.0 QJBEUXM);
  • ZTE MC801A router (software version - TMOPLMC801AV1.0.0B07).

play 5G

5G on Play

In the race for the title of leader on the Polish market, when it comes to the implementation of the 5th generation network, Play positioned itself on the first line. Already last year we heard about the so-called 5G Ready , and the purple network announced in February that its 5G will officially appear soon. We have even heard of the first tariffs prepared for this communication standard.

However, as we already know, Plus was the first to launch the fifth generation network in Poland in commercial release. Play, in turn, has already had its 5G since January, only that ... it provided this non-commercial service ( in the Tri-City ). We are waiting all the time to make this communication standard available so we wait, but purple telecom has recently boasted of increasing the number of base stations . Now new tariffs have come.

However, we are still waiting for the next 5G information on Play, but we already know that this service will be provided on the 2100 MHz band. The start will be used by residents of 53 cities and towns which will be within the reach of the fifth generation of the purple operator network thanks to 500 base stations before the end of June. The list of supported devices includes devices such as:

  • smartphone LG V60 ThinQ 5G;
  • Huawei P40 Pro smartphone;
  • Huawei Mate Xs smartphone;
  • Huawei CPE Pro 2 router;
  • Xiaomi Mi 10 5G smartphone;
  • Xiaomi Mi Lite 5G smartphone;
  • Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro 5G smartphone.
