A few days after the release of Windows 10 2004 for PC, tablets, holographic goggles and Internet of Things devices, Windows 10 2005 appears. This update is exclusively for Xbox One consoles. It significantly changes the Guide's operation.

In my opinion, the Guide is the only thing that Microsoft came up with in the Xbox One interface. But it came out really well: the handy menu called by the Xbox button on the gamepad works quickly, responsively, is well designed, comfortable and useful. Nice contrast to the slow and demanding action on the pad of the main console interface.

That is why I started updating Xbox One to the new version of the system with a slight fear. After all, the biggest change in Windows 10 2005 is the Guide. Microsoft decided to change the way it works a bit, but also introduce the ability to configure it for individual needs. Fortunately, it turned out quite well, against my fears.

The guide is slightly different in appearance from its previous version. It takes a bit more space on the screen, its individual elements have increased - probably to increase readability. Instead, the number of cards present in it was reduced, functions removed from those were merged into other categories. The biggest change, however, is the seemingly the smallest one: earlier, after pressing the Xbox button, the Guide opened with the middle tab marked. In the new version, the one on the left most side opens by default.

Microsoft says this increases the readability and intuitiveness of the guide - but I dare not agree. The default choice of the middle card meant that you had to push the bumpers on the pad less times to get to the most distant card. Fortunately, and this was thought: The guide can now be modified, and more specifically, change the order of the cards available in it. So if social features care less for us than, for example, tracking Achieve - we can arrange the cards as needed.

New features also include a new Community screen layout, additional game library filters, and a new Mixer look.

The Community Screen is intended to increase the readability of the content it presents. It is now divided into four channels: content from friends, content from game publishers, content from clubs and popular content on Xbox Live.

In turn, Mixer starts the stream right away on the highlighted thumbnail in the view of all transmissions - which will help us check whether a given transmission will actually be interesting for us without having to run it in full screen.

The update is mandatory and will be applied automatically. Requires restarting the console and about 15 minutes, depending on your connection.
