The Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 still seems to be on track for a launch in August. Samsung has now started mass-producing the next high-end folding smartphone.
South Korean sources say the manufacturing order has been placed in the past few days and includes ultra-thin glass (UTG) technology, which would make the Galaxy Fold 2 the second Samsung device to use this solution after the Galaxy Z Flip.
The Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 is unlikely to be much cheaper than its direct predecessor.
Last year, around 500,000 devices were manufactured for the first generation of the Samsung Galaxy Fold. According to industry insiders, this number is expected to increase up to six times this summer. In other words, Samsung could have up to three million Galaxy Fold 2 devices in stock in August, when the next series of foldable smartphones comes on the market.
According to the latest reports, Samsung will launch the Galaxy Fold 2 alongside the Galaxy Note 20/20 + and maybe even the Galaxy Tab S7 series .
