The current version of the Netatmo Outdoor Camera could not be faulted much . Maybe that she could only inform us about the uninvited guest in our area, but she could not scare him effectively. Now, with the debut of the new subversion, it's finally changing.

The new additional version of the Outdoor Camera does not differ visually from the one I tested. I even have the strange impression that exactly the same promotional graphics were used as when the previous version was released. And all in all good - in my opinion, the camera from Netatmo is one of the prettiest devices of this type and a change in appearance might not work out for good.

So what's new this time?

Alarm siren and not just any, because it can generate sound at 105 dB. Its principle of operation is simple - if the camera detects disturbing movement in our garden (in exactly the same way as in an Outdoor Camera without an alarm), it will send us a notification by phone. If we think that someone who should not be there actually appeared in our area, we can remotely trigger the alarm.

Is this 105 dB a lot or little? I will write about it very soon, as far as I know, the test copy is on its way to me and will soon be on my wall. I also very much appreciate the idea of adding an alarm siren - in the current system, if we are not at home, we can only convince ourselves that someone has invaded us and ... that's about it. We can hurry home. In the new version we can try to scare him off with an alarm - which will probably be successful in many cases.

What other differences compared to the version without alarm?

Actually, none. To quote the producer himself:

The Intelligent Outdoor Camera with Alarm is equipped with an external, built-in alarm, while the Intelligent Outdoor Camera does not have it. All other functions of the Intelligent Outdoor Camera with Alarm, such as external light, motion sensor, night vision, simple installation, real-time warnings etc. are similar to those of the Intelligent Outdoor Camera (except for the alarm mentioned above). Each of these cameras is compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple HomeKit. These two devices are available with free delivery in the Netatmo store, the recommended gross prices of both products also differ.

So we have a simple choice - we either buy the Outdoor Camera with or without an alarm. According to the prices from the official Polish Netatmo store, the siren requires a surcharge of approx. 160 PLN - the basic version costs 1399 PLN, while the version with alarm - 1560 PLN. A small difference, especially considering that the Netatmo Outdoor Camera has never been one of the cheapest products.
