Turbocharging up to 5 GHz. Intel presents processors for the most powerful notebooks
Intel has just announced the tenth-generation H series. These processors will appear in gaming laptops and mobile workstations. The most efficient model is clocked at 5.3 GHz.
Compromises? What compromises? Intel clearly stimulated by increasingly dangerous competition from Ryzen systems decided to show strength. These are the 10th Generation Core H mobile processors, so the Core family for mobile workstations and gaming. Modernizations compared to the previous generation are difficult to describe as modest.
In total, six new H systems will appear as part of the i5, i7 and i9 series. As many as four of them are clocked with a maximum frequency of over 5 GHz per core. Such parameters in notebooks are hardly ever found. Intel justifies that video games and a significant part of applications for creative lies primarily in the fast processing of single-threaded information, instead of distributed among the processor cores. Hence the decision to bet primarily on gigahertz.
10th generation Intel Core H - what processors will be available on the market?
According to the manufacturer, the 5.3-gigahertz eight-core Core i9-10980HK processor provides up to 54 percent increase in frame rate in video games, a 44 percent increase in overall performance and twice the rendering performance of Ultra HD video compared to the Core chip i7-7820HK.
Similarly, the Core i7-10750H is expected to offer a 44% increase in the number of frames, a 33% increase in overall performance and 70% faster Ultra HD video coding compared to the Core i7-7700HQ
A new feature in Intel systems is also the Speed Optimizer mechanism, which allows easy overclocking of processors. The new chips support Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ac), up to 128 GB DDR4 RAM, Thunderbolt 3 connectivity and Intel Optane memory.
The first computers with new processors are expected to appear later this month. They will include designs from Lenovo, MSI, Razer and Asus, among others. Ninth generation systems will remain available to Intel's hardware partners as a cheaper alternative.
