The widget with multimedia content, playback controls and volume control appearing in the upper left corner will wait for the needed and much delayed facelift.
Malicious are looking - although searching is a bit exaggerated, because it is easy to find - elements in Windows 10 that look and functionality remind us of the times of Windows XP or even Windows 2000. Somehow, I am much more irritated by the past from the disliked Windows 8 - and thus the widget that is activated when media is playing on the computer.
After running music or video in a compatible application, we can see this widget even by pressing the hardware volume button. It allows you to adjust the volume, stop playback and skip to the next or previous song. If available, it also presents the graphic cover of the content being played.
This widget is not the most convenient. It was designed with Windows 8 in mind, so primarily with tablets in mind. And in fact, holding the device in hand, it is easily accessible to the thumb. However, it does not fit well with the mouse, nor does it visually match the rest of the system.
Multimedia widget in Windows 10 in the new version. Although it is a prototype for now.
Editors of Windows Latest looking at the files of the latest test version of Windows 10 discovered a new version of the said widget. It is not available even for testers, it must be activated manually. So it is not clear whether it will go to the production version of the system, but it looks very encouraging.
The new widget retains the functionality of the old one, but is also visually compatible with the rest of the system. Its placement is also more natural - it integrates with the drop-down menu for volume control in the bottom right corner of the screen.
The novelty is currently only available in the Quick Updates test channel - which means that even if it exits from the prototype phase, it will most likely not go to the spring update of Windows 10 to version 2004 . May he come to this autumn though.
Microsoft will finally refresh the multimedia widget in Windows 10
