Huawei P40 Lite and P40 Lite E are well priced smartphones. They can conquer the market

Huawei has just presented its most important this year's models - P40 Lite and P40 Lite E. We have been using them for several hours and we know which one is better, more interesting, more profitable.

Let's start with the most important, i.e. the price. We were the first in Poland to write that Huawei P40 Lite will cost only PLN 999 and this information has been confirmed. Today we additionally learned that the price of the weaker Huawei P40 Lite E will be PLN 699. As if that wasn't enough, a sports band is added to both models. Buyers of the more expensive smartphone will receive Huawei Band 4 Pro worth PLN 299, while the cheaper - Huawei Band 4 worth PLN 149. This is a pretty good offer that impresses me. After reading the rest of the text, you'll find out why.

What are the new Huaweia smartphones?

First of all ... plastic, but this should not surprise anyone on this price shelf. Amazingly, the Huawei P40 Lite E model, whose design refers to last year's Huaweia P30 Lite, looks more solid. I don't know if his flat backs were covered with glass or just nice plastic, but I'm more inclined to the second option. This is even more possible because the back of the more expensive Huaweia P40 Lite was definitely made of plastic. This plastic in the more expensive model, unfortunately, can be felt and seen at first glance, and in this respect devices such as Huawei P30 Lite or Mate 20 Lite seemed to me better, offering a certain premium feeling , which is missing here.

It is also worth adding that both models have different fingerprint readers. Huawei P40 Lite E has a classic scanner placed on the back of the device, and Huawei P40 Lite in the side button. I like the latter solution more, because it is more intuitive to use, more convenient and invisible on the device housing.

Both devices also have mono speakers with very standard sound quality, headphone outputs and charging ports. In the case of Huaweia P40 Lite it is USB-C, while Huawei P40 Lite E has a port in the old microUSB standard, which the world should already forget.

Huawei P40 Lite is clearly better than P40 Lite E.

Both smartphones have IPS displays with a hole in the right corner - this hole has a selfie camera. In the case of Huaweia P40 Lite we get a 6.4-inch display with a resolution of 2310 x 1080 pixels, while the P40 Lite E offers a 6.39-inch screen with a lower resolution of 1560 x 720 pixels. Both screens offer good color reproduction, sufficiently high brightness and respond well to touch. However, it can be seen that the Huawei P40 Lite has a more detailed display, which will be important for people who actively use the smartphone.

When it comes to specifications, both devices are really good here. Huawei P40 Lite has an 8-core Kirin 810 processor supported by 6 GB RAM and 128 GB internal memory, which can be expanded with NM cards. This model also has a very large 4200 mAh battery for this price class, which also supports fast charging Huawei SuperCharge 40W allowing you to charge your smartphone from 0 to 70 percent. in 30 minutes.

There were also no communication standards, including NFC for contactless payments. And the smartphone works under the control of Android 10 with the EMUI 10 overlay.

In the case of Huaweia P40 Lite E it is not so rosy. It is powered by an older Kirin 710 processor supported by 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal memory, which can be expanded with NM cards. The built-in battery has a capacity of 4000 mAh and supports 15 W charging. There was also no NFC for contactless payments, while the installed software is older Android 9 with the EMUI 9.1.1 overlay. Both smartphones should be enough for most users, but in Huaweiu P40 Lite E you can see a lot of compromises compared to the standard P40 Lite model.

Both smartphones have an interesting set of cameras.

Huawei P40 Lite is equipped with up to four rear cameras, thanks to which the smartphone resembles the iPhone 11 Pro a bit. We have a main camera with a 48 megapixel matrix and f / 1.8 light, a wide-angle camera with an 8 megapixel matrix and f / 2.4 light, and blurry background and macro photography cameras, whose resolution is 2 megapixels and the light is f / 2.4. Their quality is really good for a smartphone costing less than 1000 PLN and a little worse than I would expect a few hundred zlotys more expensive from the model.

In turn, the Huawei P40 Lite E has three cameras arranged in a row. Their parameters are the same as in Huawei P40 Lite, only the dedicated macro camera is missing. For 699 PLN it is really good!

No Huawei P40 Lite model has Google services.

It may seem obvious, but it is better to remind it. Due to the commercial war between the United States and China, Huaweia smartphones do not have Google services included. Therefore, these smartphones do not have access to Google maps, nor does the Google Play store work on them. All applications should be downloaded from the Huawei AppGallery store, which is missing even travel and banking applications. And for some time this may be a problem, but ... it doesn't have to, because Huawei gave quiet permission to upload Google Play services to its smartphones not quite official methods.

At the premiere of smartphones it was announced that the warranty of Huawei P40 Lite series smartphones will also apply when the user makes changes to the phone's software. In addition, Huawei has 20 authorized services and 1000 partner points throughout the country belonging to the telakces.com, teletorium and mycenter networks. And although no one will officially confirm it to me, something tells me that the people working there will start to specialize in charging Google services to Huawei smartphones.

In addition, the Huawei AppGallery store is developing dynamically, so it's possible that after some time additional services will not be needed, because all the necessary applications will be in it. I believe that Huawei will break the Google monopoly, because it must do it in order to exist on the smartphone market in the long run and feel safe on it. Not without significance is the fact that Huawei works with developers and has huge money to encourage them to use the AppGallery and the HMS ecosystem.

So is it worth buying Huawei P40 Lite and Huawei P40 Lite? Which one to choose

It depends. The possibilities of these models are really impressive in relation to the real price. Huawei P40 Lite in terms of hardware may be the best or one of the best smartphones up to PLN 1,000. In turn, Huawei P40 Lite E offers all basic functions for less than 699 PLN. From these two, I would definitely choose the Huawei P40 Lite model, which has a better screen, faster components, supercharging, an additional camera and NFC for contactless payments. There are simply too many of these changes to ignore. I liked Huawei P40 Lite very much, while the P40 Lite E will be chosen by people who need, first of all, a cheap smartphone.

An important problem, however, is the lack of Google services, which I wrote about recently . Therefore, before you buy these models, you need to make sure that you do not need Google to live or ... that it will be possible to load Google services with unofficial methods. In this situation, the P40 Lite and P40 Lite E models will be excellent purchases. However, if you can't live without Google, just look for other models at a similar price, such as Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro.

You can see for yourself - in this case it is impossible to evaluate these smartphones than zero ones, there are no shades of gray here.
