Google reveals the card. Pixel 4a leaked before the premiere

A new cheap smartphone from Google is coming. By "accident" we saw what it looks like and how much it will cost Google Pixel 4a.

Of course I don't believe in "chance". I have no doubt that the leakage of billboards design with the price and appearance of Pixel 4a transmitted by Evan Blass was released into the world by Google itself, as was the case with the last two premieres of their smartphones.

The graphics on the billboard project say it all - Pixel 4a will cost $ 399, like its predecessor, Pixel 3a, and from the "big" Pixel 4 it will be different from the appearance of the front panel; instead of a huge beam we will see only a small indentation for the front camera. And yes, it will be exactly as ugly as we expected.

The premiere of Pixel 4a was scheduled for May and the Google I / O 2020 conference. Due to the raging coronavirus, however, the conference will not take place, so it is possible that Pixel 4a will hit the market at another time.

Google Pixel 4a is fast approaching - what do we already know about it?

There is really little confirmed and certain information. However, based on how Pixel 3a was in relation to Pixel 3, we can conclude what Pixel 4a will be in relation to Pixel 4.

Google Pixel 3 was then driven by the most powerful Snapdragon 845, while Pixel 3a received the mid-range Snapdragon 670.

So I would expect that just like Pixel 4 has Snadpragon 855, so Pixel 4a will get one of the new Qualcomm mid-range chips, most likely Snapdragon 730 - this is indicated by a video published a few days ago showing the new Pixel "live".

Google Pixel 4 has 6 GB of RAM, which is not a staggering value by today's standards. The cheaper Pixel 4a will fortunately not have RAM less. The above video indicates that he will also offer 6 GB of RAM.

The battery capacity is going to be bad. Last year's Pixel 3a was equipped with 3700 mAh cells ... and its working time left much to be desired. Pixel 4a is to be equipped with 3080 mAh cells. I don't expect to be crazy.

Everything also indicates that the advertised $ 399 is the price for the 64 GB variant. The 128 GB version is expected to be more expensive and there are also indications that this year Google Pixel 4a will have only one variation - there will be no distinction between small and large. Earlier information suggests that Pixel 4a will only be available in a smaller, affordable size with a 5.8 "screen.

Changing the layout of the front cameras reveals, however, that Pixel 4a will not offer advanced face recognition like Google Pixel 4, and at most unlocking with an optical face scan or fingerprint reader on the back of the device.

Without a doubt, however, we can expect that Pixel 4a will sweep in the matter of photography. Last year's Pixel 3a was the absolute best photographic smartphone in its class and Pixel 4a will definitely repeat this success.

Something I feel, however, that Pixel 4a will also repeat another, less glorious achievement of last year's Pixel 3a - will be a very average smartphone.

Google Pixel 4a in Poland will remain a natural curiosity.

There is no indication that Google Pixel 4a would hit Poland through the official channel. It will probably be bought, like its predecessors, in some Polish stores, but for sick money.

The problem is that even if Pixel 4a were available with us at the "American" price ... I do not think it would be worth bothering with it.

Every Pixel that has so far come out of Google's hands was a bad phone. Yes, each of them had a great camera, but each of them stood out from the competition not by an inch, but by several lengths.

Review of last year's Pixel 3a is basically a litany of minor and major ills and problems. And all this on the phone, which, apart from cameras and update guarantees, does not stand out absolutely like other mid-range smartphones, costing less and offering better specifications (and better workmanship ...).

I honestly admit that I do not understand my colleagues who are excited about this premiere. Americans have the right to be "haunted" because overseas with a candle to look for such good offers for $ 399 as with us. In Europe, however, we can choose in really high quality medium , which beat cheap Pixel in everything but the quality of the camera.

And for the price that we will probably pay for Pixel 4a in Poland, you can buy not only a better smartphone, but also a smartphone with a better camera.

I would love to be wrong about Pixel 4a and I hope that I will be able to personally see if Google will finally be able to do something like a decent phone. However, having vivid memories of the terrible experience with Pixel 3a ... I remain slightly skeptical.
