Adam Kiciński - president of CDP RED - revealed what one of the next great projects by the Polish studio will be about. When Cyberpunk 2077 lands on store shelves, The Witcher 4 will begin to appear, but without Geralt.
When Cyberpunk 2077 hits store shelves, CDP RED will be divided into at least three (in practice probably more) teams. One of them will be responsible for an independent multi-person module in the Cyberpunk environment. Second for feature additions to CP2077. In turn, the third team will work on another interactive Witcher.
The Witcher 4 will not be a classic continuation of Geralt's adventures
It is very likely that the number four will not even appear in the title of the new production. CDP RED will want to tell a whole new story with unique heroes. It is very possible that the studio will somehow return to its first idea for the game The Witcher. I remind you that initially Witcher was supposed to create his own monster hunter, while Geralt would appear in the game as a mentor and independent character.
I would not be surprised if the Witcher 4 drew on this solution. First, we create our own avatar, then we undergo appropriate training, and then we set off into a world full of monsters, villains and adventures. This was more or less how it worked in such series as Mass Effect, Dragon Age or The Elder Scrolls. Such a solution is a classic of the classic for the role-playing game.
The Witcher 4 would have its good and bad sides without Geralt
We all love Geralt. We bonded with him. We fell in love with his specific sense of humor. This is the hero with whom we spent many hours, experiencing many adventures together. From this perspective, separation from a popular hero would be noticeably sad. A hole would be very difficult to fill.
On the other hand, Geralt is a character with a specific character and a definite philosophy of life. Breaking away from this hero would allow scriptwriters and narrators from CDP RED to tell completely new, completely different stories. The creators would gain a much wider range of possibilities. Especially in the aspect of balancing between good and evil. Well, because who said that we can not play a broken witcher after the transitions?
Of course, it will be a long time before the Witcher 4 becomes more than just a loose set of ideas and preliminary conceptual models. It is possible that at the same time CDP RED will be working on the second big project, e.g. the Cyberpunk 2078 game. The growing studio has been actively wanting to create more than one AAA title at the same time for a long time.
CDP RED officially: The Witcher 4 will be created after Cyberpunk 2077
