Whether it is technology, household products or virtually any other type of article, doing so through China is extremely cheaper. Something that will change from next 2021 since we will have to pay the VAT of each purchase , regardless of its value.
To date, we have only had to declare those purchases through China that exceed 22 euros in cost. Due to this limitation, many sellers have taken advantage of declaring a value far below that of the real product and therefore, avoiding extra procedures or extra costs to the final consumer.
From January 1, 2021 , all our online purchases in Chinese stores will be much more expensive. And, from this date we will have to pay VAT on all purchases from outside the EU .
Buying in China will be more expensive: goodbye to the bargains in Xiaomi products for sale on AliExpress, Banggood, etc.
This new regulation called Import One Stop Shop (IOSS) and approved by the EU in 2015, will make any online store that sends to the EU, we have to charge VAT on our purchases of less than 150 euros, then enter it into the corresponding country .
Of rest, all the purchases with a value superior to the 150 euros will continue processing in the same way that until then, that is to say, their VAT and the corresponding tariffs will be managed. This will avoid tax fraud that until then has been carried out in small products of low or declared as supposed products with a value lower than 22 euros.
As expected , this measure will fully affect the final consumer . And from next year, those big bargains that we can find on designated dates like 11.11 of AliExpress or the various discount coupons of other stores such as Banggood or Gearbest that allow us to buy the latest from Xiaomi at a price will not be so beneficial really attractive.
