The Google Earth app will now show not only Earth, but also beyond
Google Earth has an update showing not only Earth, but also what is beyond.
Google Earth is one of those applications that I prefer not to have on my smartphone. Not at all because it is bad or weak. On the contrary. Every time I open it, I literally miss it. As soon as I check my surroundings out of curiosity, I visit Paris and New York. Later to London and Barcelona, which I am going to soon. Later to Greece, where I was on vacation.
And so it passes a quarter to a quarter.
The new version of Google Earth is a good excuse to reinstall it.
This time the novelty - contrary to the application name - does not apply to the Earth, but to its distant environment. In the view of the entire planet, the application shows a real picture of stars and even our galaxy seen in cross section.
When you rotate the view, the background adjusts to the new look while maintaining the true sky map. This feature was previously available in the browser and in the desktop application, but only routes came to the Google Earth application on Android and iOS.
Photos of the sky come from the European Southern Observatory located in Germany. In standard settings, the resolution of the cosmic layer is quite low, which is why I recommend enabling the option in the menu ("hamburger" icon in the left corner) and setting the rendering quality to "highest". It is also worth noting that the sky can be seen better when we hold the smartphone in a horizontal orientation.
I warn you, the application draws.
If this will be your first contact with Google Earth in a long time, I warn you. The application draws. In addition to watching the whole world in 3D, I recommend taking a look at the Explorer function with trips created e.g. by BBC Earth, National Geographic or NASA. You can also see specially prepared layers, e.g. one showing changes in snow cover in a selected region of the Earth.
Added to this are photo spheres, Street View, and finally a measuring tape that allows you to measure the distance between any two locations on Earth.
You can download the Google Earth app for free on Android and iOS . Remember that I warned.
