Vertical vacuum cleaner versus cat. I checked if Electrolux Pure F9 could do it in the house where the quadruped lives

I have a cat. With these words I should start every review of the vacuum cleaner, because the fact of living under one roof with a quadruped will always be a test of vacuum cleaner efficiency. This was also the case with the Electrolux Pure F9 device.

Whoever does not have a cat or dog will never understand it, but a good vacuum cleaner is more important for a quadruped owner than others. Of course, we are talking about owners who like to have at least reasonably clean at home. If you keep a cat or dog at home, you can forget about sterility anyway.

Every day I use two vacuum cleaners: a professional Profi vacuum cleaner and a vertical Samsung Powerstick. The first one is used for "big" cleaning once a week. Second for immediate cleaning works. The first is too big to pull out every day. Second too weak to use only. Profi has the power and great dusting. Samsung is handy and has no cables.

It would be ideal to find a vacuum cleaner that would combine both options: efficiency and convenience. A good candidate could be our tested Dyson V11 Absolute Pro , but in my case the obstacle would be a high (for a vacuum cleaner) price.

The Electrolux Pure F9 vertical vacuum cleaner leaflet, which I ordered for testing, says that "it combines the effectiveness of a classic vacuum cleaner with the convenience of a wireless." In other words, in theory it meets the criterion I set before I read this leaflet. I decided to verify it.

Electrolux Pure F9 - a bit of theory.

I received the PF91-61BM model for testing. Weighing 3.24 kg, the 24 by 84.9 by 23 cm device is equipped with a 36 V lithium-ion battery. The dust container has a capacity of 0.7 l.

An important feature of the vacuum cleaner is the sliding mechanism of the main module. In other words: the part containing the motor, battery and dust container can be moved up and down on a special rail. The height of the handle is also telescopically adjustable, which is at a height of 86 to 120 cm depending on the setting.

For testing I received a device with a universal electric brush equipped with 10 LEDs. It can be used to vacuum both carpets and hard floors. In addition, in the box I found an angle nozzle that is used to vacuum harder to reach places.

Pure F9 works in four power modes: low, medium, high and automatic. The manufacturer claims that the battery will allow 60, 30 and 17 minutes of operation depending on the mode. This is to translate into a range of vacuuming: 180, 90 and 51 m2, respectively.

We charge the vacuum cleaner in a dedicated docking station. Docking is very simple: we put the device on a plastic base and lower the vacuum module so that the contacts in the vacuum cleaner meet those in the charger. We will be informed that the LED blinks that charging has started.

And also information for allergy sufferers. The manufacturer says that a 5-stage exhaust air filter retains 98.6 percent. dust. The filter can be washed in water.

Electrolux Pure F9 - how do you vacuum it?

After almost 2 years of using my own vertical vacuum cleaner, I was rather skeptical when I started Electrolux. My vacuum cleaner works ad hoc, but you can't count on proper cleaning. I don't even mention carpets, because I can say that my equipment strokes them instead of vacuuming. To do this well, I have to use a large and bulky classic vacuum cleaner.

I started the Electrolux tests with the carpet in the living room. A rug that has been studded a day after thorough vacuuming. Such a charm of having an animal. Fortunately, there are also pros, look:

I started with the auto mode, which works in such a way that on a flat surface the device increases power. On the carpet, it reduces to the average - which is due to the indicator on the front of the vacuum cleaner.

In automatic mode, vacuuming the carpet was effective but required more time. When I increased the power to the maximum, I immediately felt the difference and was very surprised when I saw the effect. The content of the dust container and the appearance of the carpet testified to the fact that the vacuum cleaner coped well with the task. The rug was clean and, most importantly, no hair.

Since the vacuum cleaner handles the rug, cleaning hard floors should be a formality. And indeed it is, but with a small exception. I have to call my cat again. Foton uses a closed litter box, thanks to which it spreads relatively little silicone gravel, which we buy. Not much compared to the open cuvette, but still a lot, looking through the prism of my subjective need for cleanliness.

A vacuum cleaner with an electro brush connected is great for vacuuming panels or tiles, i.e. it collects dust, fur, and dirt well, but has a problem with absorbing grit. In principle, this should not be surprising - this is due to the design of the electric brush. It is not the case that the litter stays on the floor and cannot be cleaned - you just need to pay more attention to it, slow down and operate the device in such a way that it can collect pebbles. Another option is to use a 3 in 1 suction cup, which I will write about later.

What about noise? I don't have a professional meter. So I have to rely on the measurement from the Decibel application and subjective feelings. The software showed respectively:

  • 75 dB in the lowest speed mode.
  • 80 dB in medium speed mode.
  • 83 dB in high speed mode.

The device is not the quietest. The manufacturer provides 82 dB in his materials.

LED backlighting showed me a world I didn't want to know about.

When I saw a row of 10 LEDs on the electro brush I found this solution as a fad of the manufacturer and unnecessary water fountain. Five minutes later I changed my mind. It's even funny, but only thanks to the backlight can I be sure that I have dusted the apartment well.

The backlight gives the best results when vacuuming in the dark. It may sound strange, but then the contamination of our flat surfaces is best seen, especially dust and dirt. We also see the effects of vacuuming and we can appreciate the fact that the layer of dust (and fur!) Has been replaced by cleanliness. The LEDs on the brush always light up when the vacuum cleaner is switched on. They cannot be turned off.

Delight is endless? Time for a small spoon of tar.

A small weakness of the Electrolux Pure F9 is cleaning in hard to reach places with an angle nozzle.

It will get under the armchair, for example, when cleaning with an electric brush is not a problem. The vacuum cleaner and telescopic handle position perpendicular to the surface - this is a great convenience and basically the market standard. In addition, the main module can be moved up, so we get deeper.

When we use the angle nozzle, it ceases to be beautiful. Why? The vacuum module itself with the frame is quite heavy. As long as we ride the vacuum cleaner on the floor, the work is very comfortable, and the weight of the device helps in effective cleaning.

When we take the equipment in our hands, we quickly feel the weight. It is of course possible to take a vacuum cleaner with a corner nozzle e.g. into the car, but due to the size of the device and its weight, cleaning will not be the most convenient.

The advantage is that the angular nozzle can be "disarmed". We will then receive a 3 in 1 Suction Cup:

With her help we can easily collect the litter. We will also reach the recesses of the apartment, which the electric brush will not enter.

Electrolux Pure F9 - working time

Working time of the wireless vacuum cleaner is the key information for the buyer. My Samsung works about 12-13 min. I checked Electrolux Pure F9 with a watch.

  • In automatic mode, when the suction power is adapted to the surface, the vacuum cleaner lasted 29 min.
  • In the highest speed mode, the working time was 18 min - a minute longer than declared by the manufacturer.
  • In medium speed mode, I vacuumed 28 min (declared 30 min).
  • He worked on the lowest equipment for 61 min (declared 60 min).

How does this translate into the surface of the apartment? Mine is 48 m2 and 17 min on the highest "run" is enough to thoroughly clean all rooms, including the living room with a carpet. 29 min in auto mode is already the possibility of vacuuming twice on one charge. Not to mention medium and slow "runs".

The charging time was 5.5 hours. Quite a lot, but given the working time, it's a good result.

Electrolux Pure F9 - cleaning

Cleaning both the dust container and the electric brush is convenient and very easy. To remove the container, press the large, clearly marked button on its top. Above the waste bin, just press the second button to empty the contents. If necessary, we can also clean the filter.

In the brush, turn the knob on its side to remove the roller without resistance. To get rid of hair we will have to use scissors - this is rather a standard and manufacturer's recommended method of cleaning the roller. I know it scares off some users, but I don't know a better method.

Electrolux Pure F9 - is it worth it?

The PF91-61BM model I tested costs PLN 1,599 in electromarkets. That's a lot. Therefore, the question of whether it is worth buying a device must be answered through the prism of how much we want to spend.

Behind the Pure F9 model is very effective vacuuming of carpets, long time of work on one charge, backlight for easy cleaning of floors. Conversely, cleaning is not very convenient with the help of an angle nozzle.

Considering the current cleaning with two vacuum cleaners - vertical and professional - I asked myself another question: would Electrolux Pure F9 be able to replace me with both devices. I did not fight with my thoughts for a long time and found that the vacuum cleaner can cope with this task, which in my eyes is a sufficient recommendation.
