Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ versus the rest of the world

When you think "Galaxy Note", you think about the best, most powerful, most powerful smartphone the world of consumer electronics has to offer. Does Samsung Galaxy Note 10 still fit this description?

For years, the Galaxy Note series has held the title of the king of the smartphone jungle. The smartphone that has everything "best", and even if in some aspect it is ahead of any of its rivals, in total none can compare with it.

We just got to know the 10th incarnation of the Samsung business smartphone series, in two flavors: Note 10 with a 6.3 "screen and Note 10+, with a 6.8" screen. There is also the 5G variant, but for now it may be interesting in Poland at most, protesters before implementing this deadly technology great enthusiasts who want to be the first to test 5G connectivity on the Vistula or abroad. Officially this version will not be available with us.

As a reminder, this is the basic specification of the small Samsung Galaxy Note 10 :

  • Processor: Exynos 9825
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • Data memory: 256 GB
  • Battery: 3500 mAh with 25W charging
  • Screen: 6.3 "2280 x 1080 px
  • Camera: 12 + 16 + 12 Mpix on the back, 10 Mpix on the front

And this is the basic specification of a large Samsung Galaxy Note 10+:

  • Processor: Exynos 9825
  • RAM: 12 GB
  • Data memory: 256-512 GB
  • Battery: 4300 mAh with 45W charging (optional charger)
  • Screen: 6.8 "3040 x 1440 px
  • Camera: 12 + 16 + 12 Mpix on the back, 3D depth sensor, 10 Mpix on the front

Without a doubt, the bigger one can be said that it actually deserves to be called a challenger for the smartphone throne, but how does it compare to the competition that also fights for the title of king?

We have already compared the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 to the Samsung Galaxy S10 +. Now it's time to look at other rivals who can face the top smartphone of Koreans.

Only smartphones that meet the set of requirements have been added to the list: they have a screen with a minimum diameter of 6.1 ", minimum 8 GB RAM, offer a variant with 256 GB of memory, are resistant to dust and water and have a decent battery.

By following these criteria, we've gathered four devices in the ring that can challenge Samsung Galaxy Note 10+.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ or iPhone XS Max ?

iphone xs xs max reviews is it worth it

The choice between one and the other is very simple: if you buy an iPhone XS Max for a reason other than a strong rooting in the Apple ecosystem or because of some application that is not on Android, and without which you can not live, you should have your life think carefully.

There is no aspect in which the iPhone XS Max would outperform the Note 10+. Well, except for convenience, because although the small iPhone XS Max does not belong, it is still easier to fit in a pocket than a 6.8-inch behemoth from Korea.

Judging by the dry specifications, the iPhone XS Max is simply run over by its rival. It has two or three times less RAM (4 GB), a much smaller battery (3174 mAh without quick charging), a lower resolution screen (2688 x 1242 px) and a double (2x 12 Mpix) instead of a triple camera on the back, as well as a webcam front panel with lower resolution (7 Mpix).

Of course, this is not a fair comparison, because next month the successor to the iPhone XS Max will appear. For now, however, only last year's Apple smartphone is available, and unfortunately, judging by the raw prism of the possibilities and value for money, it has no chance of being called the king of the smartphone jungle when the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ stands next to it.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ or Huawei P30 Pro ?

Here we have an analogous situation to the iPhone, because just around the corner is the premiere of the larger, better model Mate 30 Pro. However, as long as it is not available, the P30 Pro is the best device in the Huawei portfolio (Mate 20X Pro is not counted, because it is a niche variant, like Note 10+ 5G).

Huawei has one giant advantage over the Note: camera. The Galaxy Note 10+ has basically 1: 1 the same photographic capabilities as the Galaxy S10 +, and the Galaxy S10 + loses with the Huawei P30 Pro in any photographic competition. Samsung is slightly better when it comes to video recording, but the P30 Pro does not stand out enough to give way to the field completely.

Unfortunately, the triple set of cameras on the back (40 + 20 + 8 Mpix) with hybrid zoom and the 32-megapixel front camera are ahead of what the Galaxy Note 10+ has to offer.

Huawei P30 Pro also does not stand out too much from Samsung in terms of performance. The Kirin 980 processor is also made in 7-nanometer lithography, like Exynos 9825. Also we have here 8 GB of RAM (although there is no option for 12 GB) and 256 GB of memory for data.

Instead, the screen stands out, which is not only smaller (6.47 ") but also has a lower resolution (2340 x 1080 px). We can basically put an equal sign between the batteries, because between 4300 mAh and 4200 mAh the difference is negligible, although of course numbers are numbers, but only a real comparison will show the differences in the working times of both devices.

And let's not forget about the price. Today we can buy Huaweia P30 Pro for just 3200 PLN (128 GB version) or 3699 PLN for the 256 GB version. Against the background of Note 10+, which in Poland starts from a ceiling of over 4799 PLN, it's quite cheap, especially since the differences are not as great as it may seem. It won't be easy for Samsung to beat it.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ or OnePlus 7 Pro ?

OnePlus 7 Pro - first impressions

It will be even more difficult for Samsung to break the OnePlus, which with the 7 Pro model once again proved that you can make a smartphone that will sweep rivals in terms of performance and capabilities, while costing half what they do.

There are no official benchmarks of the Note 10+ yet, but I suspect that in practice it will not be faster than the one equipped with Snapdragon 855, 6 to 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of memory for OnePlus 7 Pro data. Well, I bet that when it comes to the perception of liquidity, the OnePlus 7 Pro will be the better, because its 6.67-inch display with a resolution of 3120 x 1440 has a refresh rate of 90 Hz, not 60 Hz, which noticeably changes device pickup.

The OnePlus 7 Pro display is also free of holes, indents and other "disturbance" - it's just a beautiful OLED panel (by the way: Samsung production) that pleases the eye no less than the Galaxy S10 + or the new Note.

Turning to what's under the screen - OnePlus 7 Pro also has a slightly smaller battery (4000 mAh), although its super-fast charging is slightly less cool than that in Note 10+ (only 30W). OnePlus will not charge wirelessly or share energy with other devices.

Galaxy Note 10+, despite the many tricks up his sleeve, does not win with OnePlus from the software side. Ok, OnePlus may not have DeX mode, there is no built-in connection mode with Windows 10 and other murmur-goodies, which Samsung has packed a new Note, but it has the best Android distribution available on the market - Oxygen OS. Not only fast and polished, but also a regularly updated operating system.

OnePlus loses with Samsung in the field of optical quality. Although the company's smartphones have made a giant leap forward in this generation, the triple rear camera system (48 + 8 + 16 Mpix) and the 16-megapixel front camera are at most OK. They are far from the lead, i.e. the Note, Huawei P30 and XS Max iPhones of this world.

OnePlus 7 Pro also has no official certification for dust and water resistance. The manufacturer, however, swears that the smartphone is resistant, and the certificate was not received due to the high cost of obtaining such scrap. However, we know from our own unpleasant experiences that such a declaration is a bit too little. I didn't drown OnePlus 7 Pro. Dawid Kosiński did it on the first dive.

Despite this, it is OnePlus 7 Pro that is currently the most serious rival of Note 10+. This device is really hard to fault anything, especially at this price - the richest OnePlus 7 Pro variant costs only 3669 PLN, which is over 1000 PLN less than the base variant Note 10+.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ or Asus ROG Phone 2 ?

Yes - ASUS ROG Phone 2 does not meet many criteria of this statement. It is definitely not a popular smartphone, and it really isn't on the market yet; has just been presented.

So what does he do in this ranking? Well, it shows that smartphones from the Galaxy Note line are no longer the most powerful devices on the market. While the Note 10+ in the richest version goes head to head with OnePlus 7 Pro, asus ROG Phone 2 is an even heavier player.

Processor? Snapdragon 855 Plus. RAM? 12 GB. Memory? 512 GB. Battery? 6000 mAh Screen? 6.6-inch OLED 120 Hz. Price? Less than 3500 PLN.

To this we add pure Android on board, powerful stereo speakers and accessories for players, and if someone is looking for the most powerful smartphone on the market, they will certainly not reach for Note 10+.

Of course, ROG Phone 2 will never gain the popularity of Note 10+. He will lose with him too much when it comes to the quality of photos taken, which we can be sure of. But in a duel of pure performance he would beat Samsung without much effort.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ - still the king of the jungle?

Difficult question. Comparing it with smartphones in this list, the case looks something like this:

  • Galaxy Note 10+ versus Asus ROG Phone 2? - Note 10+ wins, despite the worse specification. After all, in this kingdom on the throne sits not the most brutal guy, but the most universal warrior, and here Note 10+ pierces the niche product of Asus
  • Galaxy Note 10+ versus iPhone XS Max? - let's say it's a meeting of the king of the north with the king of all Westeros. Galaxy Note 10+ objectively pierces the iPhone in every possible field, but subjectively for a huge, stubborn crowd of people, the iPhone is the only legitimate ruler and no numbers in the specification or the goodies in the software will not change it. North remembers .
  • Galaxy Note 10+ versus Huawei P30 Pro? - here the fight gets fierce, but ultimately the palm of priority must be given to Samsung. Note 10+ maybe more, it has better specification in the top version and much better system overlay than Huaweia hardware. It is more universal than him. And even if he loses in terms of the quality of photos taken, he defeats his Chinese rival everywhere else.
  • Galaxy Note 10+ versus OnePlus 7 Pro? - for two smartphones that differ so much in price, this duel is extremely fierce. Note 10+ wins here only marginally and only if, if we value the best price and quality ratio above a good camera and equipment with the logo of a popular manufacturer.

Answering the question posed at the beginning of this text - yes, Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ is the king of the smartphone jungle and it is not only because (forgive the biscuit) that it is the only one that holds the scepter.

The Galaxy Note 10+ still remains faithful to the dynasty's DNA - it may not be objectively the best in every field, but it is good enough in all to become a total offer that cannot be rejected.

Those who are looking for the absolute best camera will not choose it. Those who are looking for the absolute best performance will not choose it. It will not be chosen by those who are looking for the best value for money, although it must be admitted that against the backdrop of the iPhone XS Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ for 4799 PLN seems to be an opportunity ...

However, for those who need a smartphone capable of dealing with absolutely any challenge, Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ should appeal to everyone like no other.
