Evan finally got the chance to visit the coveted paradise. For years, he has been writing about the advantages of communism over rotten capitalism and for years he has been modeling the bloodthirsty capitalist imperialists, sweet, honey and blood, accompanied by the flowing Matrioshka. One day a beautiful stranger accosts him and reveals that someone is waiting for the life of Commander of the communist paradise. Only Evan can expose the conspirators and frustrate the coup d'état.

We look at our hero and we sigh. If a naive child like Evan is the Chief's last hope, let's face it, the leader is in serious trouble ...

Irony Curtain: From Matryoshka with is a hilarious and charming game.

I will immediately confess that when I got this game for review, I tensed. I was afraid that at some point the constant jokes of the same will cease to be fun and they will start to be tiring. Fortunately, the authors of the game quickly resolved my fears. Communist Matrioshka's absurdities play even in final acts, mainly because the creators do not reach for only one kind of humor. Playing, we smile under the nose with subtle references, we laugh at the voice from an unexpected joke, which is usually surprisingly accurate and absurd at the same time. The number of references to the classics makes the game a love letter to good old adventure games.

Irony Curtain is full of visual gems, funny allusions and brilliant verbal humor that works in both Polish and English. Usually I do not like when the subtitles in a different language differ too much from the original statements, but this time the procedure works perfectly. The Irony translation of Curtain is loose, but very good. The greatest emphasis was placed on making the Polish text as witty as the original one. Bilingual people, although they may have a problem, to read and listen to a dialogue in two different languages ​​at the same time, get twice as much jokes in the bonus.

Apart from translators, it is also good to praise the actors responsible for voting for Evan and the company. It is thanks to them that the expressive characters that we meet along the way, although drawn with a thick line, are interesting and diverse. Citizens of Matryoshka are far from virtue patterns, but almost everyone can be liked in their own way.

Our great graphics are also helping to build relationships with our new companions. Hand-drawn world perfectly harmonizes with the satirical soul of the story. Dimmed colors, expressive lines and beautifully combining elements make everything fit together.

Mechanics are as simple as building a sickle and how effective it is.

This is a typical point and click adventure game . You can control the mouse and space. The latter is useful when you want to highlight all the points with which you can interact. It is worth using it even if you do not want to lose any of the funny descriptions of places and objects. Among other things, they allow you to immerse yourself in the unique atmosphere of Matryoshka. As it happens in adventures, we will quickly fill up our inventory with various strange items that can be viewed and also combined with each other in different ways, creating a new, usually even weirder object.

You have to congratulate the creators of the game that they have avoided the trap of absurd answers. Most puzzles have very logical solutions and although they are not always visible at first glance, you can deal with them very efficiently.

If something irritates, then running around the map to complete all the items and information necessary to accomplish certain tasks. If we double-click a given place, Evan will run up to him, though he'll do it trotter rather than with a fleet gallop. I'd rather be able to move from the board to the board faster, but it's a trifle. The locations are fortunately small enough that the lack of such an option is not so much irritating, but rather surprising.

Older readers may remember that in the past, service instructions were added to the adventures, at the end of which was (an American but still) phone number to which frustrated desperates could ring to find out why they had been in the same place for fifteen hours. Here you can find such a gadget on every board. Thanks to the phone call we can get out of trouble. Luckily, the game does not give ready solutions, but a few apt hints that can push us in the right direction.

Not everything (unfortunately) is perfect.

Time for a spoon of tar. The weakest part of the game is the plot. The creators probably tried too hard to spin it and surprise players with an unexpected solution. Unfortunately, this is reflected at the end of the game. One of the heroes gives a long lecture at the end, which is to explain everything. Such info dump is rarely a good solution (works if you're writing a crime story and you're called Agatha Christie) and in this case it's just tiring. What's worse, after explaining everything, some things lose their meaning instead of taking it on. The weakness of the plot surprises, the more that everything else was written great - great dialogs, great descriptions, great little scenes.

Fortunately, it is not the plot that is the heart of satire and adventure games. In the final analysis, I would whole-heartedly recommend Irony Curtain to those comrades who are taking their first steps in the world of adventure games, as well as veterans of the genre, who have already been trapped by many dungeons. The first should appreciate the ease of navigation in the game, and the latter the number of references to their favorite titles. Everyone should be delighted with the graphics, vocalization and humor of the game.
