Sony shows news for PS4: Final Fantasy VII, Predator, MediEvil and a great addition to Monster Hunter

The first episode of State of Play - a new program promoting upcoming games on PS4 - was terrible. Fortunately, Sony has done the homework and came back with a new, much better material. On it, we can see an addition to Monster Hunter World, a remake of Final Fantasy VII or a MediEvil remake.

Sony evidently envied the Nintendo publicity, which give the company periodic video presentations under the name Nintendo Direct . The architects of PlayStation 4 decided to create their own video series entitled State of Play. Unfortunately, the first episode of SoP was much, much below the expectations of fans. Fortunately, Sony fixes the situation, showing in the second episode some really interesting promising games.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne

Iceborne is the first big extension to the great Monster Hunter World . As the name suggests, it will be even icily. Players will find new places covered with snow and ice. There will be waiting for them to see monsters that we have never seen or caught before. Of course, every self-respecting hunter knows that only the second option is the right one.

Capcom promises a new task rank, new monsters and new locations. Players will be able to acquire unique equipment, which involves a whole new range of moves and possibilities. Added to this is a new storyline that will continue the story from the basic Monster Hunter World. The Iceborne trailer suggests that Velkhan's ice dragon will be the most dangerous beast of the supplement.

After the absolutely great returns of the dragon Spyro and Crash Bandicoot, it's time to revive the next PSX legend. It is of course Sir Daniel Fortesque - the undead hack'n'slasha hero with elements of the arcade game MediEvil. The title appeared on the first PlayStation in 1998, two years later landing in the prestigious Platinum collection.

However, while Crash and Spyro resuscitated talented platformers, the new MediEvil looks ... the most correct. This, of course, is only my subjective impression caused by the new trailer. However, I can not resist the impression that this remake will not be as perfect as we would like it to be. Let me be wrong.

Predator: Hunting Grounds

Good news: there will be a new Predator. Not necessarily good news: it's a PvP network game in which players will fight in a few-on-one formula. Such asymmetrical gameplay is something that we could enjoy on such productions as Evolve, Dying Light, Dead by Daylight and Left 4 Dead.

The idea is great on paper. Several soldiers fight for survival in the dense jungle, while the extraterrestrial hunter enjoys hunting. Asymmetric PvP games, however, have this to themselves that they really do not do much when they succeed. Their creation requires giant experience in the field of multiplayer games. For the game Predator: Hunting Grounds, in turn, corresponds to the wider unknown IllFonic studio; the creators of the infamous Friday of the Thirteenth, who helped Evolve. I keep my fingers crossed, but I remain skeptical.

Final Fantasy VII Remake

This is the first time since a really long time, when Square Enix to the company from Sony showed new materials on the remake of Final Fantasy VII. The best jPRG game in the history of mankind goes through a very arduous process of resurrection. Many thought that the project was stuck in a dead end. Thanks to State of Play, however, we know that the game will still be released on the current generation of consoles.

FFVII Remake looks great, although I am full of fears about the episodic character of this production. If Squre Enix is still planning to release this title in episodes, it will be a process that lasts for years. The Japanese create slowly and unhurriedly. Just remember how much time Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts 3 was created. That's why I think that the episodic distribution model fits this unique project like a fist to the nose. Fortunately, it is not too late to change this decision.
