My girlfriend is sitting in front of a huge TV and ... watching a movie on a smartphone
I enter the apartment, at first glance, everything is fine. My better half sits in the living room and watches the show. However, some detail does not suit me. Well, despite the fact that there is a large 65-inch TV in front of it, despite the 14-inch laptop lying next to it, even though it has an iPad at its fingertips, it prefers to watch the series on his smartphone.
Unfortunately, I can not understand it. To avoid it, I often watch the video content on my smartphone. I do, however, in a longer journey or public transport, or in the queue to the doctor or in the bedroom. In short, where I do not have easy access to my own TV with great home cinema.
In the meantime, it turns out that my girl rejects it in the name ... well, what? Convenience? After all, it can transfer the watched series to a bigger screen with one icon on your smartphone. Mobility? After all, he is sitting at home, and progress in the screen synchronizes between the devices. Nothing prevents her to finish it later on mobile equipment.
I really do not understand it.
She probably does not. When I ask why he watches TV shows and movies on the smallest possible screen, he can not explain it. Curious, I also asked friends if they were watching movies on the smartphone at home and if so why. The most frequent answers were about comfort, but without going into details. Because, as I mentioned earlier, convenience is illusory in this case.
The trend of watching video on your smartphone is visible. According to the report "Poland is mobi 2018" prepared by Mobee Dick among Poles using Android smartphones, the most-targeted application is YouTube.
In turn, the Multiscreening study 2018 prepared by IRCenter says that 26 percent. Netfliks users are watching it on smartphones. In the case of pirate CDA.pl, this percentage was 20 percent. By the way, VoD services were most often watched not on televisions, but on computers. This, however, can be explained by the low popularity of TV sets in the younger generation of recipients.
It's no wonder that dedicated video smartphones are made.
And here I go to the bottom. I would not even think about writing this text if it were not for today's Sony Xperia 1 premiere . Representatives of the company boasted above all on a great OLED screen with 4K resolution and 21: 9 aspect ratio, which meets all cinema standards.
Only a little less time spent on stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos technology and numerous ways of sound processing. Only then did they switch to the standard points of a typical smartphone premiere, such as technical specifications and a triple camera.
At first I thought it was just stupid, but after a while I changed my mind. I remembered about my girlfriend and friends and that they (unlike me) love to watch video on smartphones in absolutely all conditions. Even when a huge TV hangs in front of them.
Since, even in the nearest, completely non-technological environment, I can point my finger to potential buyers of Sony Xperia 1, it's probably sensible to create a smartphone with the idea of watching video and serials. If Sony is good at marketing the film capabilities of its equipment, it will have a good chance of commercial success.
