The Office of Electronic Communications has started work on the tender concerning the distribution of frequencies that will be used in 5G technology. The Ministry of Finance hopes that it will be able to earn several billion zlotys.

UKE has already announced that it would like to allocate the first frequencies for mobile networks by mid-2020. Now the office has given the first details.

We therefore learned that the basic variant of the tender assumes allocation of four reservations in the 3.6-3.8 GHz band, 50 MHz each.

There is also a second variant, in which the tender would be written on frequencies in the 3.4-3.6 GHz range, but then the reservations would cover 80 MHz. The additional difference lies in the fact that while in the first option all reservations will be nationwide, in the second option, two of them would not cover all municipalities.

Entities interested in expressing the position, we encourage you to send your opinions to the address by May 14 this year. The positions collected will help to create documentation that will be subject to social consultations in the future, " UKE writes in a press release .

From previous analyzes of the Ministry of Finance, it appears that the tender is expected to bring profits to the state budget within the limits of 3.5 to even PLN 5 billion. The condition is, however, earlier entry into force of the amendment to the Telecommunications Law Act, which is to take place in May.
