Banks are taking Revoluta? City Handlowy adds 8 percent. from top-up.
Holders of a Citibank Mastercard World credit card have reported commissions for topping up their balance in the Revolut application for a few days:
The commission is 8 percent. on the transaction amount, but at least PLN 10.
The bank announced changes in the SMS sent from the standard number. He sent his clients a message with the following content:
Citi Handlowy: we remind you - Cash and special transactions (eg currency exchange and transfers) made with credit cards are subject to a fee in accordance with the TFC
Our readers were very surprised by the commission, because they treated this message as spam. Just look at the previous message, which is part of the marketing campaign.
Revolut recharge as a special transaction
A closer look at the changes in the Citi Handlowy regulations shows that the bank had instruments to calculate commissions from August 2018. At that time, the following was qualified as a special transaction:
Transaction with entities providing services in the field of currency exchange, virtual currencies and means of payment as well as intermediary in exchange.
On March 13, 2019, the bank began enforcing its regulations.
How to avoid fees for topping up Revolut?
The easiest way is to use the transfer option (it takes up to 2 days) or another bank's card. In the network you can also find information that the fee is not subject to transactions with Citibank card connected to Google Pay. However, we have not verified this option yet.
