Apple throws micropayments from games. This is Apple Arcade
The idea of paying a fixed subscription fee in exchange for access to computer games has been known since at least two generations of Sony and Microsoft consoles. It is no wonder that Apple wants to check how such a system will cope with their ecosystem.
That's how you can describe Apple Arcade. On the one hand, this is not a new idea, but on the other - Apple does it, so in Arcade there will be some interesting solutions to talk about. First things first.
Apple Arcade - a new service for players
The new service will be made available in autumn 2019 in 150 countries around the world, so Poles do not have to worry about being omitted in this matter. Unfortunately, the most important issue - the price - was not disclosed during the official presentation, so only speculation remains. If I had to bet, I would say that the month of access to the Apple Arcade will cost about 10 dollars, which is more or less as much as access to games on Microsoft and Sony platforms.
At the start of the service, representatives of Apple boasted that the platform will be more than 100 exclusive titles, which we will not play on any other platform. Or rather: platforms, because Apple Arcade will be available on both mobile devices (iPhone, iPad) and the stationary part of the Apple ecosystem (Mac, Apple TV).
Playing offline, zero additional fees and full protection of players' privacy
No game available under the Apple Arcade will require a permanent connection to the network (it will be useful for remote people and airplanes), and in the games will be prohibited micropayments. Apple also promises extended parental control options and the fact that games available under Apple Arcade will not spy on their users in any way. Protection of users' privacy is one of the best advantages of this company and I am very happy that nobody has forgotten about it by introducing a new gaming platform.
The game snippets that were presented on the Apple Arcade trailer look quite nice. But I would wait for a moment with enthusiasm. At least until Apple officially gives the price of its new service.
