Trypophobia in practice, meaning Nokia and Xiaomi scare customers
Today, on one of Facebook's groups dedicated to Xiaomi's equipment, I came across a very interesting discussion. Internet users outraged her that the new Chinese case looked ... terrifying.
At first I could not understand what was going on. Well, what's so terrible in this case?
Only when delving into facebook discussion someone explained that it is about trypophobia .
Trypophobia, because this has been called the ailment, is not an official phobia, although scientists are investigating it and why we are afraid of ... many small holes. This disgust is more biological than a cultural reaction - invoice typical for tryptophobia sometimes bring to mind wounds or infections, and the disgust associated with such things is to protect us from coming into contact with such a suspicious invoice.
Equally credible trail is related to the signs of poisonous animals. A beautiful example is, for example, hapalochlaens, i.e. venomous octopus inhabiting the Pacific Ocean. The study of the phenomenon of trypophobia was undertaken in 2013 by scholars from Essex. From their research , it really appears that some people feel unrestrained disgust or fear of seeing many small, contrasting details, like lines, dots or holes. Some even say that this affliction affects 15 percent. our population .
Nokia also ignores this problem
After familiarizing myself with the topic, I started to look for other technological equipment that could seem to be terrifying to trypophobes. I found one. Nokia 9 and its 5 lenses on the back cover. At first I thought that it was probably an exaggeration and I think nobody in the network was outraged because of it.
I was wrong . Geoff Cole, one of the authors of the research linked above , even gave an expert comment on this subject, claiming that indeed - by photographing someone with Nokia 9, we can trigger a trypophobic reaction. Interesting experience - we take a photo of a friend, until suddenly one of them starts to get nervous and asks you to hide your phone, because at his sight he feels the original fear of danger.
I am writing a little mockery because I still do not quite believe that this phenomenon is as real as the Internet claims. In times of mass trolling you can never be sure of such things. It may well be that trypophobia is another example of the so-called emotional contagion, or the process of transferring emotional states or mood between people. Someone will tell you that small, slightly spaced openings are frightening, and despite the fact that you have never thought so, suddenly you will begin to understand what all this anxiety is about. The operation of the human mind is a bizarre thing.
I wonder if the competition of Nokia and Xiaomi is already planning new advertising campaigns with a friendly phrase, trypophobe.
