There was no such paralysis yet. In April taxi drivers will come to Warsaw to protest against Uber
Kraków, Wrocław, Łódź, Trójmiasto and the Silesian agglomeration - taxi drivers will come to Warsaw on April 8. This is another scene of the fight against, in their opinion, illegal competition. And this, despite many changes in the market, still has Uber's face.
It is difficult to determine how many taxi drivers can pull off at the beginning of April to the capital, but it seems that on this day it will be better to change to the metro. Problems in moving around Warsaw have already raised previous protests. Such a powerful manifestation of aversion towards Uber and his counterparts, however, was not yet.
Drivers want to block the streets of Warsaw as a protest - reports Rzeczpospolita . The reason is what is always - companies such as Uber or Taxify consider it illegal competition. Uber's partners and unassociated taxi drivers are also dissatisfied.
For a long time, the Ministry of Infrastructure has been working on a law that will regulate the operation of transport applications. There were many ideas at that time, and the most radical ones were aimed at outsourcing applications in Poland.
The latest project, without agreement with any of the parties, went to the desk of Prime Minister Morawiecki at the end of 2018. After the intervention of the US ambassador, the content of the project was to be changed. According to Rzeczpospolita, the modifications were to be only cosmetic.
Drivers are furious because, according to them, the current proposal "concretes the transport market" and strengthens the position of taxi corporations at the expense of them. And they threaten that the bill will eventually hit passengers who will be forced to pay higher rates.
Uber's policy
The other thing is that Uber himself has been taking off the image of a startup for some time, with the help of which you can order a car course. Americans have ambitions to become an "application to move" and in the US they start to display information about public transport. The company also invests in Lime, which is building a system of renting electric scooters on the Vistula River.
The transports themselves are not particularly profitable for Uber. For 9 years, the startup burned $ 10.7 billion . His followers are not doing any better, anyway. Didi Chuxing - a company that took over Uber's business in China - is said to have released 2,000 by CNBC . people. The Chinese only lost $ 1.6 billion in 2018.
