AirBuddy is a must-have application for owners of AirPods and Mac

There is just an application that should be downloaded by all AirPods owners. It is a pity that AirBuddy is not part of macOS.

AirPods are the first Apple wireless headphones that use Bluetooth and W1 chip. Thanks to this, after one pairing with the device of this brand, you can connect them also easily to other devices, on which the user logged in to the same Apple ID account.

How do I connect AirPods to a Mac ?

AirPods is a great companion for devices such as iPhones, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV and Mac. In the latter case, connecting headphones could be a bit more convenient.

By default, to connect Apple's wireless headphones to your Mac when both devices have been paired with one another, first open the case. Then you have to click the volume icon in the menu bar and choose AirPods from the list.

AirBuddy simplifies this process with just one click.

A small program called AirBuddy works all the time in the background. As soon as it detects via the Bluetooth LE that an AirPods case has been opened near the Mac (or other headphones with a W1 chip), it will display an elegant pop-up window.

It resembles the illusion that appears when you open the AirPods case next to the iOS hardware. All you need is one click to connect your headphones to your computer, without expanding the menu under the volume button.

This is not the end of the AirBuddy function.

The program prepared by an independent developer also introduces an optional widget to the Notification Center in macOS. You can display in it the state of charge of not only AirPods, but also iPhone and iPad.

The great news is that the widget collects this information even if it is not connected to the computer with a cable. For good luck, there is no information about the state of charge of the Apple Watch.

Unfortunately, as is usual in the case of a reserve, you have to pay extra for such additions.

In addition, the price for the pop-up window and the additional small widget is not, because the minimum purchase cost of the AirBuddy application is 5 dollars. However, I do not regret the money I spend because I use it now several times a day.

It is a pity that the application is also not available in the Mac App Store, but only through the website . This means that it can not be made available to the family as part of the Family Sharing mechanism.

I hope that in the future Apple will add to the next version of macOS a feature that will make AirBuddy unnecessary. It is possible that this will happen after the premiere of AirPods 2, which will be available for sale later this year (if not, I am counting on an update of the program, which was not cheap).
