Savior or culprit. A knight on a white horse or a scoundrel on an old snout. How many households, so many stories about couriers, parcels and orders. As every week, I started the editorial probe and asked what are the worst experiences with couriers of my colleagues. There is nothing like a happy topic for the upcoming holidays and an increased shopping period.

The Christmas shopping period is in progress. This is the time when the elaborately built plan to make all family members happy depends often on one unusually uncertain factor: a courier. The parcel provider can be either the savior and ray of the dawn, or the persona non grata of the entire estate. As I feed on human sadness and suffering, I decided to ask my friends and colleagues for their unpleasant experiences with couriers. There is something to read. I would be even more eager to read what your extreme experiences with package providers are. I leave my comments at your disposal.

Dawid Kosinski - my adventures with couriers I can not count

Recently, the courier asked me by phone about which I will be in the apartment, I answered that in about half an hour and after 25 minutes I got to my door, I saw a packet lying on the doormat. In turn, when I was about 16 years old and I was still living in Bialystok, the courier threw the motherboard, which I put away for months, to the car in front of the house and forged my signature. Fortunately, it was my father's car.

Another time an unknown company's courier brought my second half. In total, four huge cartons of clothes, do not even ask, there was a good promotion. The value of goods is about two thousand zlotys. She also did not get any news about the delivery of packages. I saw the packages when I returned home after work. All packages just stood at the door. Absolutely anyone could take them.

I have enriched myself even on courier error.

A few years ago, my Ilona ordered a Christmas collection of games from the Heroes of Might and Magic series. Collector's edition, the price of several hundred zlotys, as for students, it was a lot of money. The parcel was to be paid for on delivery, and the courier still left it in the store. Then we tried to explain the case and we called the courier, but he insisted that the package was not cash on delivery and he could not accept the money. Representatives of the store, in turn, assured us that they got the money and we do not have to pay the bill. After a few phone calls, we gave up and overtook the case, because we decided that it should not be up to her to do it. To this day, no one came to us for this money.

What technology could make the situation never happen?

A larger number of parcel machines and collection points. The problem will be solved in such a way that after the shipment I will go to Żabka or another fixed point, and I will not find it on the doormat without prior notice.

Anna Nicz - the courier did not deliver the package, because ... well, I do not know why

The courier did not deliver the package on time? No problem, sir, I'll wait. But what do I say to my dog ​​who is waiting for food for the next weeks, dentures for cleaning teeth and other tastes? Nothing irritates like a package not delivered in time, because ... I do not really know why. The courier claims that he did not find anyone in the apartment (there were two people + a dog), that he tried to call (no call) and that he left an advice (guess if I found an advice in the box).

I suspect that the history of such GLS knows a lot, which I see after the entries in social media. However, for the first time I had such insolence. We called the courier still on the day of scheduled delivery. The Lord stubbornly adhered to his version, told him that he was calling, that he was knocking, that he did not find anyone. The request for re-delivery was expressed in the sentence "I can not talk, I'm at work". The parcel weighing over 30 kg went to ParcelShop, located in a small tailor shop in Muranów. You can drive up, take it. Well, I did not just order a delivery of over 30 kg for the door, but later I would like to tinker it myself.

Long minutes spent on the hotline, two complaints, over a week of waiting and nothing - the package fell into a black hole, the courier company is short of work and there is no one to deliver the package. Eventually, the store where the goods were ordered offered re-delivery, this time with the help of another courier. The package arrived after two days. What happened to the first parcel? I do not know. A few days later, you called from the tailor's shop asking if we would pick up our carton. We explained the whole situation to her. She was not surprised at all.

What technology could make the situation never happen?

Technology? Human kindness. And better coordination of the work of couriers - if for over a week there is no one who can deliver a parcel to us (Warsaw Wola), then something is wrong here.

Piotr Grabiec - I am hung in limbo

A friend once laughed that the same courier would give him two packages on the same day. The supplier then created a Shroedinger client - he delivered one parcel, but on the other said he did not find anyone at home. I also had a lot of my own adventures, and when Szymon asked me for a statement on this topic, I hung on the GLS helpline.

Last week, my cordial colleague Dawid Kosiński received a phone call trying to deliver my package to my address. Someone mistook our numbers, and when I called back to the provider - this one was a street away. I know that the couriers work hard and the time is chasing them, and the sender has mistaken the number, so I decided that I would come after the parcel. I dressed my shoes, I threw my coat and went to the agreed place, but the parcels could not be picked up.

The van covered with the GLS logo drove off my nose with a screech of tires. Of course, the courier had another connection on the line, and after a quarter of an hour I was able to call him , the supplier had a grudge against me that I did not throw him in front of the mask like Rejtan. Apparently, the delivery of parcels interferes with his work, which involves driving from point A to point B.

Fortunately, the GLS helpline, apart from the waiting time - twice as long as declared, although the pre-Christmas period is yet to come - I can not say a bad word anymore. My interlocutor showed empathy, she promised to forward the complaint to the appropriate department and offered to re-deliver the package - this was sent to the collection point ... which the courier did not deign to inform.

What technology could make the situation never happen?

The problem is not in technology but in people. No application will cause the courier to look at the recipients of parcels that he delivers, as for living entities, and not just as successive numbers on the list and necessary evil. On the other hand, the GLS helpline is not a quality of service, but a waiting time, but you can only blame the person responsible for the employment - a few more people are on a full-time basis and the calls will be received much faster.

Marta Daszkiewicz - and it was so beautiful ...

A long time ago, when I lived in a village near Warsaw for a few years, the company of my then-current guy was located in the area of ​​the same DHL courier. After two phone contacts, a nice gentleman left packages there himself. That was convenient for me and for him. I did not have to stress myself, whether I would be at home, and he had to cross the side streets with his head.

Do not kid yourself, you can sometimes order a package to the office. However, if it is something bigger, much better when it will be delivered to your home.

Currently, most often we order feed, litter and other cat accessories, which are not the lightest ones. You know, I work to make my cats have a decent life. I have used GLS services so far. Especially when it turned out that the courier easily leaves parcels in the bakery next to my block. However, there was another problem. With every phone call I had to listen to the texts in the style of "oh my, and I thought that I would think about you today" or "maybe one day I will manage to find you". I note that he did not see me on the eyes and that the boy would fail a bit.

I've had enough of hearing this type of whining, so I ran into a - it would seem a genius - idea. I have exchanged the recipient's data for his man's data. And the first time it worked perfectly. The second time, quite a lot of the weighing package, without any telephone contact, landed in ParcelShop. Is someone falling in love? I do not need to say that it ended with a complaint? And not even to leave the parcel in ParcelShop, which the courier has the right, but for all the texts that I had to listen to before.

What technology could make the situation never happen?

I agree with Piotr that this is not about technology, it's about people. Making a phone call and leaving a package at your neighbor or in a nearby store is not a higher school of driving. Maybe it would help if the parcels were delivered in the evenings? Only then would the same couriers work, who also want to have time for themselves and for the family.

I just ordered another package with cat's content and instead of GLS I chose DPD. I wonder how the situation will develop.

Krzysztof Basel - when I was in China, a courier left a package with a MacBook Pro under my door

There were plenty of situations, but the worst was about the package with my computer, which was supposed to come back from the site. At the time, I was in China for a month, the service obviously did not inform me that it sent the package (by mistake, because without repair) and simply sent it. You know, a cardboard box the size of a laptop packaging, wrapped in black foil and with a white tape full of Apple and iSpot logos and a great sticker carefully. What did DPD courier do when he did not find me in the apartment? He left the package on the doormat, under the door, on the ground floor, in the stairwell, through which hundreds of people are going to one of the several upper floors. To my surprise, no one has appropriated this packet.

The next day I sent the computer back to the site because it came to me without repair. I waited another two weeks. And what? Repetition of entertainment. It's just that sometimes I was in Wroclaw. The courier did not call, he simply left the package on the doormat. This time it was only 6 hours.

After the first incident, I complained about the courier's work. As you can see, it did not help, because the courier did it again. What's worse, he lied to my face that it was not him who left the package under my door, but someone else. The second time I pressed, I'll make it. I've smudged a few sharp emails. Nobody spoke. It was not until I bragged that I was working in the media and I would like to describe it, but a manager called me and apologized. I learned that the courier should be released, but not immediately, because they have to find someone in his place, and it is not so easy. I do not know if they did it because luckily I moved out of the apartment a moment later.

Now for 1.5 years I have lived in the very center of Wroclaw and it is even worse. Recently I sent the camera for service and the producer had ordered DPD courier at his expense. I ordered, no one came. I called the hotline several times, I explained, I asked. Each time the same song - "the courier does not answer the phone, we do not know what's going on". After two days I ordered a courier from another, already proven company - he arrived in 15 minutes after the phone.

What technology could make the situation never happen?

Ordinary human honesty, responsibility and honesty of couriers. Do you need technology for this? Or maybe it would be enough to introduce the Uber system among couriers? Every supplier would have a rating from customers based on which he would get better prices for delivering the package.

For a change, in my history there will be no blood, no sweat and no tears. My experiences with couriers are rather good. Maybe because I rarely use their services and the courier I deal with more often is "Telewizja Kurry Warszawski". And for sure because I work at home. This eliminates the main plane of conflict between the couriers and clients, i.e. when the courier is working, his client usually also outside the home. Meanwhile, in my case, the courier rings the bell and I open it - to his surprise. Sometimes only in my "office outfit", i.e. in pajamas.

I also like using Paczkomaty and I consider them to be an absolutely brilliant invention. Even despite their poorly functioning touch screens. I sometimes get furious with them.

What technology could make the situation never happen?

Modern touch screens are not a particularly sophisticated technology - but Paczkomaty need it. Well, it was supposed to be about couriers. I do not quite imagine drones delivering shipments. First, we can have autonomous vehicles that will deliver shipments - but not to the recipient's door, only to large logistics centers. You will then have to bother yourself with them. That's how I see it. An electric cargo scooter will be useful for this.

And when it comes to the most effective technology related to the courier industry, it is definitely a smile. Well, maybe you do not need "the rest". It really works.

Rafał Gdak - I can hardly complain about the delivery of parcels.

I do not remember such spectacular adventures with couriers as my colleagues. To tell the truth, I am one of those who should not complain too much about the quality of courier services. Some couriers have been knocking at my apartment for some time. I know more or less when I can expect them. I've never lost anything. No shipment has been destroyed. Live not to die.

Most often I choose delivery or shipping by 2-3 companies: DHL, DPD, UPS and Poczta Polska. I used InPost from time to time, but this year I started to avoid the operator like fire. Why? Several shipments ordered both to the house and the parcel locker took place a week in the sorting plant of the target city, i.e. in Lublin.

The scenario was repeated and looked as follows. The parcel arrived on the second business day to my city, after which it lay several days awaiting delivery to the address or parcel locker. Multiple contacts with the helpline have always had a similar course. A nice lady claimed she was sending a reminder and then ... the package was still in the sorting room. These few adventures with InPost have effectively discouraged me as a client.

What technology could make the situation never happen?

None. One of InPost consultants in a fit of sincerity told me once that he does not know what is happening in Lublin, because there is a reorganization there. Months have passed and I have been watching the same problems in delivering parcels. I voted with my feet and chose other suppliers.

Łukasz Kotkowski - and I have nice things to say.

I would be happy to join this festival of complaining and dropped a story about the "bad couriers" to the collection, but not counting the notoriously late InPost ... for several years I have been extremely lucky for couriers. There is no day that a parcel will not leave my home or that the parcel will not come. I send and receive a lot, my wife even more. Our businesses depend to a large extent on the efficiency of couriers' work. And no matter what company the courier would be, I can only praise him.

They always call. Never before have they made a false attempt to deliver the parcel, because they did not want to go. When I'm not at home, I have no problem with getting caught in the city. Always polite, always helpful - I have couriers in Słupsk.

Perhaps this is partly due to the fact that I always try to meet them. The courier will not get to work during business hours? No problem, either we arrange the next day, or get in the car myself and go to the pickup point. The package is heavy and would help? I go downstairs and help her bring it.

Maybe that's why I never found a package left alone under a closed door or thrown to a neighbor. Karma is coming back. Although I read the stories of my colleagues with a hedgehog on my head and I hope that the above-described state of affairs will last, because if I had to face something like this every day, I would probably greet the rest before the 30th.
