And it s only you. The new Snapdragon 855 will not make its debut in Samsung Galaxy S10 or Xperia XZ4
Niepodzianka! Qualcomm has just officially announced that the new Snapdragon 855 will not make its debut in Samsung Galaxy S10 or Xperia XZ4. The first one will receive it ... the new OnePlus.
It's only you. Just yesterday I was ready to applaud Dawid Kosiński, who - quite rightly - assumed that Snapdragon 855 in the first smartphones we will see at MWC 2019, in the first quarter of next year. And if so, for sure the first phones equipped with this system will be Samsung Galaxy S10 (in the American variant) and Sony Xperia XZ4. Maybe LG G8.
And here is a surprise.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 will debut in the new OnePlus smartphone.
The company announced this during the Snapdragon Summit conference in Maui. If OnePlus does not change the publishing cycle, it means that the first phone with the new SoC will not be seen until May 2019.

Of course there is also a chance that OnePlus will change plans and want to be "the first", will show a new phone in front of MWC, while Galaxy S10 and Xperia XZ4 will actually receive a new Qualcomm processor. However, I would not count on this scenario too much - after all, OnePlus showed the model 6T only two months ago. However, nothing is excluded. If OnePlus so openly wants to be "the first to introduce a smartphone from 5G to Europe", it can equally significantly change its product schedule.
Snapdragon 855 - what's new?
For a full list of new products, I invite you to the text of Dawid Kosiński , but it is already known that Snapdragon 855 will be a breakthrough in many respects.
First of all, it will be a system made in 7 nm lithography (like Apple A12 Bionic and Kirin 980 from Huawei), so much more energy-efficient than its predecessor, with a simultaneous increase in efficiency. How significant do you grow? There is even talk about 48 percent. power increase, especially on the side of the graphics system.
Snapdragon 855 also natively supports fingerprint reader technology under the display, which suggests that in the near future we will see more smartphones with this solution, God give - implemented better than it is in Huawei Mate 20 Pro and OnePlus 6T.
And finally, the new SoC Qualcomma will offer support for 5G technology , which certainly every smartphone manufacturer will use in his marketing materials, though ... not much of it. Hardware support is, the infrastructure will not be there for a long time.
A point for OnePlus .
It is amazing at what pace the company has moved from the role of a niche nerd product to the leader of changes in the mobile market. Qualcomm from the very beginning worked closely with OnePlus, creating dedicated variants of their systems for their smartphones, but the debut of the new processor in the device of this company is a precedent.
Perhaps for the majority of consumers it is that some Chinese company is the first to get a new chip, it does not matter, but for the industry it is a sign that the wind direction has changed.
The balance of power on the mobile market is changing. I admit, given the above news, as well as the planned premieres of other producers, I can not wait to see what in the sphere of mobile technologies will bring 2019.
And it's only you. The new Snapdragon 855 will not make its debut in Samsung Galaxy S10 or Xperia XZ4
